Borderlands 4 DLC Bosses: How to Farm Story Pack 2 and Bounty Pack 5 for Pearlescent Loot

Borderlands 4 got its biggest content drop since launch on September 10, when Gearbox and 2K shipped Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort, Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows, and the new playable Vault Hunter Loveless the Hacker all on the same day. The free version 1.10 update that came with them raises the level cap by 10 for every player, DLC owner or not. If you have been farming the base campaign's bosses dry, there is a fresh set of targets, and two new Pearlescent-tier weapons to chase.

What actually shipped on September 10

The two packs are sold separately, and so is the character. Story Pack 2 is $19.99 and adds the new map zone Providence, a resort island built on top of a live volcano, along with its own campaign, side missions and boss roster. Bounty Pack 5 is $5.99 and adds a repeatable mission set on Elpis and inside the Phase dimension, built around a single tough boss fight. Loveless the Hacker, a $9.99 Vault Hunter who fights alongside a digital virus that digistructs into a physical body, works across the whole base game, not just the new content. None of this requires the others: you can buy Bounty Pack 5 without Story Pack 2, or play Loveless with no DLC zones at all.

Providence is gated behind story progress. Gearbox recommends Vault Hunters be level 13 or higher before starting it, and you need to clear a specific main-campaign checkpoint first before the island opens up. Once you are in, ziplines let you cross the jungle canopy quickly, which matters because several of the bosses below are spread across the map.

Lieutenant Harmony and the Tediore takeover

Story Pack 2's story boss is Lieutenant Harmony, who leads five elite Tediore managers sent to strip Providence of its Ordonite deposits. She fights out of Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2 and calls in digistructed reinforcements mid-fight, including turret-legged walking guns, so clear adds first rather than tunneling her shield. Harmony's dedicated drops are the Astonisher, a Pearlescent shotgun, and Infection, a corrosive pistol. Between her and the rest of the Providence enemy roster, the pack's full loot pool runs to two new Pearlescent weapons and eighteen pieces of Legendary gear.

• Vulkorr — Substation Control. Flip five power switches around the arena to summon him; drops the assault rifle Avarice.
• Cosmicreep and Gutslinger — spawn from the Digi-Rift world event; both share a loot pool of the shield Exfoliatrix and the Pearlescent heavy ordnance Quadratus.
• Blackgrin — Occupied Sector, Pyroclast Grotto; drops the shotgun Decompiler.
• Jr. Manager Warrant Baggett — The Keeper's Ear, Vinechoked Canopy; drops the assault rifle Shardenfreude.

Vile Grasp and Bounty Pack 5's boss rush

Bounty Pack 5 is built around Amara chasing down Vile Grasp, a rogue experiment spun off from the existing Vile Lictor enemy type, deep in the Phase dimension. The fight introduces a new Vile enemy family alongside two minibosses guarding the approach. Clearing the pack's boss line unlocks the Vile Test Chamber, a repeatable arena you can run again for another shot at the loot table without replaying the story beat. Total drops from the pack are the Pearlescent Torgue shotgun AeroDramatic and six pieces of Legendary gear, which makes this the fastest of the two packs to fully farm out since there is only one loot pool to chase instead of a dozen scattered bosses.

Farming both packs with Moxxi's Big Encore Machine

You do not need to save-quit or reload a save to refight any story boss in Borderlands 4. Moxxi's Big Encore Machine, placed near most boss arenas, lets you pay cash to instantly respawn the last boss you beat there and fight it again on the spot. Every boss in the game, DLC included, can be resummoned this way and farmed for its dedicated legendary drop. There is also a challenge variant: paying 100 Eridium instead of cash spawns a tougher version of the same boss with better odds of dropping its unique item, which is worth it once you are geared enough to kill it quickly.

Loveless the Hacker joins the lineup

Loveless does not require either DLC pack to play, so if you only want the sixth Vault Hunter and plan to farm bosses in the base campaign instead, the $9.99 character purchase is the only one you need. Her kit centers on a pet-like digital virus companion that digistructs into physical form, giving her a hacking-and-pet hybrid playstyle unlike any of the game's first five Vault Hunters.

Quick reference before you start farming

1. Update to version 1.10 and confirm your level cap increase applied before diving into Providence.
2. Clear the required campaign checkpoint to unlock Providence, then aim for character level 13 or higher.
3. Farm Lieutenant Harmony first for the Astonisher and Infection, then rotate through Vulkorr, Cosmicreep/Gutslinger and Blackgrin using Moxxi's Big Encore Machine.
4. For Bounty Pack 5, clear Vile Grasp once to unlock the Vile Test Chamber, then repeat it for AeroDramatic and the pack's six Legendaries.
5. Save your 100-Eridium challenge respawns for bosses you can already kill fast, since the higher difficulty costs more time per attempt.
