EA Sports FC 27 launches worldwide on Friday, September 25, 2026, and paid early access opens a week earlier on September 18. It ships on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Here are the dates, prices, the changes that matter and what to do before September 18.
The dates that matter
There are three unlock points. Early access for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus owners starts September 18 at 12:00 am local time on consoles and September 17 at 23:00 UTC on PC. EA Play members get a 10-hour trial of the Standard Edition from the same day. Everyone else starts September 25, when a free FC 27 Lite download also arrives at 16:00 UTC with a limited mode list built around Kick-Off.
EA has not posted dates for the Ultimate Team web app or companion app as of September 11. Last year the web app went live the day before early access, and community sites expect the same pattern around September 16 and 17. Treat those as projections. The edition windows are laid out in EA's editions and release dates FAQ.

Editions, prices and platforms
Kylian Mbappé fronts the Standard and Ultimate covers. The Ultimate Plus cover pairs him with Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham. On PlayStation, Xbox and PC the tiers are:
- Standard, $69.99 / £69.99. The only disc edition. Pre-order before September 24 for an untradeable 92+ ICON item in FC 26, three ICONs or Heroes for Manager Career, a 5-star coach and youth scout, a Grounds sweatsuit, a Tier 3 Amp inspired by Mbappé and two Double AXP consumables.
- Ultimate, $99.99 / £99.99. Digital only. Up to seven days of early access, up to 6,000 FC Points in three monthly drops and the Season 1 Premium Pass. Orders placed after August 31 get a reduced bonus package, so read the store listing before paying.
- Ultimate Plus, $149.99 / £139.99. Sold only from July 23 to August 31, so it is gone. It carried up to 10,000 FC Points over five drops, Premium Passes for Seasons 1 to 5, a Hall of FUT player pick and an extra Evolution slot.
Nintendo pricing is lower: Standard is $69.99 on Switch 2 and $59.99 on the original Switch, with Ultimate at $89.99 and $79.99. The catch is The Grounds. The new social hub, and the Clubs mode that now lives inside it, is only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2. PS4, Xbox One and original Switch get the rest of the game without it. The Steam page lists Standard and Ultimate pre-purchase.
Gameplay: fewer assists, more decisions
The gameplay deep dive from Principal Gameplay Designer Gilliard Lopes is the essential read, because most changes take control away from the system and hand it to you. Defenders no longer step in on their own when a dribbler approaches. Jockey speed is up and stand-tackle range is longer, so manual defending is rewarded.
Set pieces changed most. On corners you control your players before the delivery, with a new avoidance move on R1/RB to slip a marker, and nobody auto-positions. Crosses aim into space instead of locking onto a target, and headers need cleaner timing. Computer-controlled attackers make curved runs that avoid crowded lanes, and you can trigger your own with L1+R1 (LB+RB) or a pass-and-follow run with the pass button added. Through balls lose their assisted steering, dinked passes go fully manual, and elite dribblers keep the ball when knocked off balance. Full detail is in EA's gameplay pitch notes.
Ultimate Team, Career and The Grounds
Ultimate Team's headline is the FUT Gallery. Every item you own is recorded there even after you sell or submit it, and those records fill themed Sets by nation, league, club or campaign. Completed Sets get a grade, grades feed a Gallery Level, and the level pays out Gallery Tokens for a store that includes a new class of historical items called Hall of FUT. Also new: score-based SBC submissions with partial progress, branching Evolution Pathways, and Role++ familiarity on every special item. EA's FUT deep dive has the item-level detail.
Career Mode's transfer market is rebuilt on TransferRoom's Expected Transfer Value model, so fees move with performance, age and league strength across seasons. Negotiations run in stages with installments, performance bonuses, buy-back, first-refusal and sell-on clauses. Dynamic OVR lets a rating rise and fall with form, morale and match fitness inside a per-player range. Manager Career adds Live Creator Challenges, an 11v11 Practice Arena, six Growth Profiles and 25 new gameplay sliders plus 10 CPU sliders. Read the Career deep dive before starting a save.

The Grounds replaces the old Clubs lobby with a shared playground for up to 100 players across three districts (Montclair, Zeiza and Parkside) around a central Terrace. Mentors Alex Hunter, Mbappé, Chloe Kelly and Paulo Dybala hand out challenges. There are eight Kickabout mini-games, three-minute 1v1s with CPU goalkeepers, and full 11v11 Clubs with Leagues, Playoffs and new Club Tournaments. The Grounds and Clubs deep dive covers the rest.
What to do before September 18
- Pick the edition now. If you want the seven days, Ultimate is the only option left, and EA Play members take 10 percent off.
- Check your platform. If Clubs is your main mode, PS4, Xbox One and original Switch are the wrong versions.
- Keep your FC 26 Ultimate Team club active. The web app has historically required an existing club from the previous game.
- Retrain your defending in FC 26 with jockey and manual switching only, because the auto-tackle crutch is gone.
The short version
Worldwide launch is September 25. Early access opens September 18 for Ultimate owners, with a 10-hour EA Play trial the same day. Standard is $69.99, Ultimate $99.99, and Ultimate Plus has closed. Mbappé is the cover athlete. Defending and corners are manual, the FUT Gallery is the new long-term loop, Career transfers follow real market logic, and The Grounds is current-gen and Switch 2 only. Web app dates are unconfirmed.
